Before you book: gorilla and chimpanzee permits are never sold at the park gate — they're reserved in advance through a licensed operator, often months ahead in peak season (June–September, December–February). All fees are per person, per 24 hours. Children aged 0–5 enter free.

Low-season tip: Rwanda cuts up to 30% off gorilla permits for visitors adding nights in Akagera or Nyungwe during November–May. Uganda offers $600 discounted permits in April, May and November — non-reschedulable.
